The processes

Non-isothermal process control

In a non-isothermal process control, the glass is tempered in parallel and independently of the molding tools. This significantly reduces the cycle times and number of molds, creating the conditions for cost-effective and fast processes for mass production.

Isothermal process control

Vitrum offers isothermal processes for high-precision forming.

Methods of process development

Vitrum Technologies' processes are validated for the respective applications on ultra-modern test facilities. A wide variety of parameters are recorded at intervals of up to 15 milliseconds and displayed in a digital twin. The use of machine learning tools with graphical HMI enables user-friendly and highly efficient process developments.

The Machine and Equipment Technology

Thin glass

Our individual machine concepts are designed for up to four hot forming processes per machine (4-in-1 system technology):

  • Gravity slumping
  • Vacuum assisted slumping
  • Deep drawing
  • Press bending

Bulk glass

We differentiate between the following processes for bulk glass forming:

  • Isothermal precision glass molding for highest tolerances
  • Non-isothermal glass molding for mass production

For both glass forming processes grinding and polishing of the finished product is no longer required.

Applications of Thin Glass

Precisely formed thin glass offers new applications in high value components in automotive and components for electronics and sensors.

The advantages compared to conventional materials are:

  • Light and sturdy structures due to thin walls in Micrometer or single Millimeters thicknesses
  • Chemical stable and scratch resistant and therefore easy to clean and suitable for haptically enhanced surfaces.
  • UV-resistant

Applications of Bulk Glass

Vitrum Technologies offers custom designed optimized machine concepts according shape, precision, and surface requirements as well as targeted production rates.

The replicative forming technologies for bulk glass are suitable to produce complex and highly precise optics.

Be it aspheres, free-form optics, Wafers – with the machines and equipment from Vitrum we are your competent partner.

Components made of replicative formed bulk glass are used in markets such as laser technologies, medical equipment, automotive and sensorics.
